During the first lockdown, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, I spent a lot of time at home in my flat in London – and while I enjoyed the first couple of weeks, I felt increasingly trapped – as if there was a world somewhere out there and I was no longer part of it. Inspired by Donald Trump’s doubtful advice to inject oneself with disinfectant to combat the virus, I took pictures of myself and treated them with all the different sanitizers and cleaning products I had used in my house during those lockdown months. The results are portraits, which appear as in a weird dream or under water… removed from the world I used to know. They show cracks and scratches, which I felt appear in myself during this time.
